APEC finance ministers to meet next week: HK Fire Services Department steps up inspections and enforcement

The Fire Services Department has rolled out comprehensive special security arrangements, ready for the meeting. (FB)

The 2026 APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting will be held in Hong Kong on Oct. 20–21. The Fire Services Department (FSD) said on social media today (Oct. 17) that it has rolled out special security arrangements across the board to ensure the smooth running of the meeting.

The FSD has stepped up routine safety inspections, risk checks, and special patrols and enforcement operations, covering:

Meeting venues, including the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC)
MTR stations, construction sites and typhoon shelters
Hardware stores and chemical suppliers
Dangerous goods warehouses and waste recycling yards
Petrol filling stations
