To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Macao Light Rapid Transit (MLM) announced today (Dec. 16) that it will provide free train rides for passengers on Dec. 20, encouraging residents and visitors to make greater use of the light rapid transit for travel.

Macao, a highly open and export-oriented micro-economy with limited natural resources, has achieved remarkable progress since its return to China 25 years ago. Under the "One Country, Two Systems" framework and with strong support from the central government, Macao has transformed into a modern international city, creating what is known as the "Macao Miracle."

In less than a week, Macao will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its return to the motherland. Over the past quarter century, the "one country, two systems" policy has driven Macao's rapid economic growth.

The art center, which integrates the Guangdong Museum of Art, the Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, and the Guangdong Literature Museum, has a total construction area of approximately 145,000 square meters.

An expert with Macao Polytechnic University has said the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government has made significant efforts in cultural heritage protection to boost the region's future sustainable development.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will be in Macao from Dec. 18 to 20 to attend a gathering marking the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland. Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will be present at the inauguration ceremony of the sixth-term government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). Xi will also conduct an inspection tour during his stay in the Macao SAR.

Citybus said today (Dec. 13) that it will operate the Christmas Illumination Route from tomorrow (Dec. 14) to Dec. 30, and add more than 510 extra trips from Dec. 21 to Jan. 2, 2025, to enhance its open-top buses, local tourist routes, Citybus Airport Express and feeder services at various boundary crossings.

These changes are evident in improving the legal framework and the practical aspects of law enforcement, judicial efficiency, and public understanding of the judicial process.

On the occasion of celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, Macao SAR Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong stated in a media interview last month that with the support of the country, Macao has achieved rapid economic development over the past 25 years, with a year-on-year growth of 11.5% in the local gross domestic product in the first three quarters of this year.
