The "Chill Night Market 4.0" will be held from Oct. 23 to 25 at the football pitch of Carpenter Road Park, Kowloon City. The event will feature a Qiaopi culture zone, Teochew culture workshops and a specialty market, plus a Yingge dance troupe from the mainland and Teochew dishes from local restaurants.
Supported by the Chaoshan Cultural Association, the market adds a Qiaopi culture zone showcasing historical materials and a recreated Qiaopi agency, recalling how early Chaoshan emigrants stayed connected with home through letters that combined correspondence with remittance; visitors can write their own Qiaopi. Workshops on kung fu tea and red peach kueh will also be offered.
This year's Yingge troupe will parade through Kowloon City from 4 pm on Oct. 24 to 25, bringing the national intangible cultural heritage closer to residents.
