Hong Kong singer Eason Chan will stage 26 sessions of "Recording Sessions with Mr. Eason Chan" at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts from December 2026 to February 2027, turning the recording studio into a live stage for a large-scale album re-recording project.
Chan announced the project on Friday (Oct. 16). Rather than a conventional concert series, the performances form part of an unprecedented large-scale album re-recording initiative in HK's music industry, conceived by the singer himself. For the first time, he will bring the recording process to a live audience, inviting fans to witness the re-creation of his classic songs through public recording sessions.
Tickets will be allocated through an online registration and ballot system on Cityline, with prices starting at HK$980 and going up to HK$1,280. The series will open on Dec. 12, 2026, and conclude on Feb. 20, 2027, spanning three months. Once the recording project is completed, the newly recorded works will be compiled into a new album, allowing fans who cannot attend the sessions in person to hear the re-recorded classics.
To ensure recording quality, the organizers have introduced strict rules that differ from those at conventional concerts. All audience members must completely switch off their mobile phones before entering the venue and place them in special sealed pouches provided by the organizers. Photography, audio recording and video recording are strictly prohibited throughout the venue.
During the official recording sessions, audience members must remain quiet and refrain from clapping, cheering, talking or singing along. They may express their excitement freely only at designated times when instructed by the organizers or Chan.
Each session will last approximately 100 minutes and be divided into two parts, with a 15-minute interval. The final admission time is 8 pm. Latecomers will be allowed to enter only at designated times and as directed by staff, to avoid disrupting the recording process.
