Registration opens for 10km race at Hong Kong International Airport on Nov 17
The "Hong Kong International Airport‧Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon: Three-Runway System 10km International Race" is set to take place on Nov. 17 at the airport's runway, marking the first long-distance race at the Hong Kong International Airport since 1998.
Public registration for the lottery begins on Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. on the official website and will close this Friday (Sept. 27). The results of the first lottery draw will be announced on Oct. 1.
The Chief Executive John Lee pointed out at the press conference before attending Tuesday's Executive Council meeting (Sept. 24) that the SAR has organized more than 400 celebratory activitiesin the hope that the whole city could celebrate the National Day, including half-price cinema, transport and restaurant concessions.
Lee also said it is believed that this National Day Golden Week will attract a large number of mainland tourists, it is estimated that there will be about 1.15 million to 1.2 million visits to Hong Kong, and tour group travellers will rise by 10% to about 850 tours, most of which will stay in Hong Kong for one night.
HKTA offers half-price movie tickets for National Day
On Oct. 1, all commercial cinemas across Hong Kong, covering 59 venues, will offer half-price tickets for all movies and formats. Ticket sales start on Sept. 25 at noon. In addition to enjoying discounted tickets for over 80 films, moviegoers can participate in the "1st October Movie Fiesta: Half-Price Spectacular: Scratch Extravaganza", offering chances to win more than2,000 amazing gifts, including more than a thousand free movie tickets.
Attendees who purchase tickets for Oct. 1 will receive a scratch card, allowing them to win prizes ranging from free movie tickets and concession stand vouchers to popcorn and soft drinks. The top ten winners will receive 75 movie ticket vouchers each.

The HKSAR government held a welcoming ceremony at the Hong Kong International Airport for the two giant pandas An An and Ke Ke, which were gifted by the central government, upon their arrival in Hong Kong on Sept. 26.
After the welcoming ceremony, An An and Ke Ke were transported to Ocean Park by specialized vehicles and moved to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures for quarantine isolation.
The Chief Secretary for Administration, Chan Kwok-ki, said in his speech at the welcoming ceremony that the government will arrange for the giant pandas to meet the public at Ocean Park as soon as possible, taking into account the pandas' adaptability and experts' advice.
Professor Lo Yuk-ming appointed as next president of CUHK
On Sept. 27, the Search Committee of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) unanimously approved the appointment of Professor Lo Yuk-ming, the current Associate Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Medicine who is known as the "Father of Non-invasive Prenatal Testing", as the next university president.
