Registration opens for 10km race at Hong Kong International Airport on Nov 17
The "Hong Kong International Airport‧Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon: Three-Runway System 10km International Race" is set to take place on Nov. 17 at the airport's runway, marking the first long-distance race at the Hong Kong International Airport since 1998.
Public registration for the lottery begins today (Sept. 23) at 2 p.m. on the official website and will close this Friday (Sept. 27). The results of the first lottery draw will be announced on Oct. 1.
Local runners can register using their ID card number, while non-local participants must provide a travel document number. According to the schedule, the first round of lottery results will be published on Oct. 1, and selected participants must confirm their spot by making a payment.
Winners are required to pick up their race packs and carry the original ID documents they registered with on the day of the event for identity verification. The minimum age requirement to participate is 12 years old, in compliance with Civil Aviation regulations for access area permits.
This event features a "10K Race," "5K Race," "3K Race," and a "10K Wheelchair Race," alongside a "Women's Elite 10K International Race." The race will be held on the closed middle runway with four racing lanes.
Participants will check in at the AsiaWorld-Expo and undergo security screening before being shuttled by bus to the airport's restricted area, where they will assemble and start on the tarmac.
