CE: National Day 'Golden Week' features more than 400 events with over 1.2 mn mainland visitors to HK

The reporter asked whether Hong Kong is well prepared to receive tourists in various aspects, including the estimated number of visitors, reception capacity and even evacuation of tourists, etc. How to assist mainland tourists return to the Mainland or Hong Kong's hotels after the fireworks of National Day? Whether different scenic spots well prepared?
In response, Lee pointed out that the SAR has organized more than 400 celebratory activities in the hope that the whole city could celebrate the National Day, including half-price cinema, transport and restaurant concessions.
Lee also said it is believed that this National Day Golden Week will attract a large number of mainland tourists, it is estimated that there will be about 1.15 million to 1.2 million visits to Hong Kong, and tour group travellers will rise by 10% to about 850 tours, most of which will stay in Hong Kong for one night.
Lee pointed out that according to an earlier estimation by the Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants and Related Trades, the Golden Week will bring a turnover of HK$180 million, and he hoped that the National Day Golden Week will help increase the revenue of various trades and industries related to tourism.
The SAR government attaches great importance to the arrival of a large number of tourists and is well prepared for it. Lee added that the Chief Secretary for Administration has already started to co-ordinate the work with various departments, for example, sufficient manpower has been prepared at the border control points, and the traffic deployment has been fully prepared.
