The HKSAR government held a welcoming ceremony at the Hong Kong International Airport for the two giant pandas An An and Ke Ke, which were gifted by the central government, upon their arrival in Hong Kong this morning (Sept. 26).
After the welcoming ceremony, An An and Ke Ke were transported to Ocean Park by specialized vehicles and moved to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures for quarantine isolation.
The Chief Secretary for Administration, Chan Kwok-ki, said in his speech at the welcoming ceremony that the government will arrange for the giant pandas to meet the public at Ocean Park as soon as possible, taking into account the pandas' adaptability and experts' advice.
In the next two to three months, the Government will organize a variety of activities in collaboration with the Park and various sectors of the community, including a giant panda naming campaign and a drawing competition, he said.
