National Day Fireworks Display lights up Victoria Harbour

The National Day Fireworks Display was staged over Victoria Harbor on National Day night (Oct. 1) at 9:05 pm.

The 23-minute display featured 31,888 fireworks from three barges and six small pontoons at nine launching points.

Govt to seek new names for giant pandas 'An An' & 'Ke Ke' until Oct 27

Giant pandas "An An" and "Ke Ke" have successfully arrived in Hong Kong on Sept. 26 and are now residing at the city's Ocean Park.

To welcome these two giant pandas to the HK family, the Giant Panda Naming Competition and Giant Panda Painting Competition, organized by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and co-organized by the Ocean Park Corporation, were launched on Oct. 2.

Passenger's portable fan battery catches fire on MTR, injuring another on waist

A passenger's portable fan battery caught fire at Yau Tong Station, injuring another passenger on the waist, who required hospitalization for treatment.

Around 9 a.m. on Oct. 2, a 26-year-old man was taking the Tseung Kwan O Line towards North Point. When the train arrived at Yau Tong Station, a passenger's portable fan lithium battery suddenly emitted smoke and caught fire.

The man was unable to evade in time and suffered burns to the waist. He was taken to United Christian Hospital by ambulance after the report was received.

218,000 mainland visitors arrive in HK on Oct. 2

According to the Immigration Department, a total of over 870,000 passenger trips were made on Wednesday (Oct. 2), of which over 460,000 were arrivals and about 400,000 were departures.

Among the arrivals, about 218,000 were mainland visitors; 189,000 Hong Kong people also traveled out of Hong Kong on Oct. 2.
