Govt to seek new names for giant pandas 'An An' & 'Ke Ke' until Oct 27
Giant pandas "An An" and "Ke Ke" have successfully arrived in Hong Kong on Sept. 26 and are now residing at the city's Ocean Park.
To welcome these two giant pandas to the HK family, the Giant Panda Naming Competition and Giant Panda Painting Competition, organized by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and co-organized by the Ocean Park Corporation, were launched today (Oct. 2).
For the Giant Panda Naming Competition, participants are required to submit a 100-word explanation for their proposed names, aiming to find names that better reflect the pandas' characteristics. The submission deadline is Oct. 27.
For the Giant Panda Painting Competition, participants will be divided into three separate categories: Open Group (for HK residents), the Secondary Student Group (for Secondary One to Secondary Six students) and the Primary Student Group (for Primary One to Primary Six students). HK residents will be invited to capture the pandas' adorable images through their artwork. Entries will be accepted starting from Oct. 21, with submission deadline on Nov. 8.
