South Korean police conducted search and seizure operations at Muan International Airport for the second day in a row on Friday (Jan. 3), aiming to secure key materials related to the deadly Jeju Air plane crash that claimed 179 lives, Yonhap news agency said.

The move came one day after police conducted operations on Thursday at the airport in southwest South Korea, the Seoul office of Jeju Air and the Muan office of the Busan Regional Office of Aviation, respectively.

Police keep trying to secure evidence related to the legitimacy of the airport's localizer, a concrete wall housing an antenna array located near the runway at the time, and the communications record between the control tower and the pilot shortly before the plane crash, Yonhap said in the report.

They are also looking to secure the surveillance camera near the runway, and records on operation and maintenance of the ill-fated aircraft, the report said.

The Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, to the Muan airport crashed while landing without wheels, killing 179 people onboard with only two crew members survived.
