3 Chinese nationals falsely detained by US return to China safely: Foreign Ministry
According to CCTV News, on Nov. 28, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said at the regular press conference that through the unremitting efforts of the Chinese government, the three Chinese citizens falsely detained by the US side have returned to China safely.
She said once again that China will never give up on its compatriots and that the motherland will always be their strong support.
Mao emphasized that China has always been firmly opposed to the US suppression and persecution of Chinese citizens for political purposes and will, as always, take the necessary measures to protect the legitimate legal rights and interests of Chinese citizens.
"Another fugitive who had been absconding in the US for many years was repatriated to China this time, which shows that no place can ever be a 'safe-haven' in the net of justice. The Chinese government will continue to catch fugitives," Mao added.
The US State Department changed its travel warning to China to level 2, advising US citizens to "exercise increased caution" when traveling there. It had previously been at level 3, telling Americans to "reconsider travel".
Mao said that China has noted the adjustment made by the US side and believes it is conducive to the normal personnel exchanges between the two countries.
"We have always opposed the man-made 'chilling effect' and hope that the US side will continue to create more facilities to promote humanistic exchanges between the two countries," Mao said.
