Stop indulging in geopolitical games: China refutes G7's remarks
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference on Nov. 27. A journalist asked about a joint statement from the G7 foreign ministers seeking to establish a constructive and stable relationship with China, and cooperate in addressing global challenges, while also demanding that China cease its support for the Russian defense industry, sensationalize the "overcapacity" in China, and meddle in issues related to the East China Sea, South China Sea, Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong.
Mao stated that this year, China has repeatedly expressed a firm stance on the G7's erroneous remarks regarding China. If the G7 proposes seeking to establish a constructive and stable relationship with China and cooperate in addressing global challenges, they should practice the spirit of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, and implement the above statements with practical actions, rather than attacking and smearing China.
Mao noted that China has consistently maintained an objective and impartial stance on the Ukraine crisis, actively promoting peace talks and negotiations, never providing weapons to conflict parties, strictly controlling the export of dual-use items and even civilian drones, and opposing the use of civilian drones for military purposes. At the same time, normal economic and trade exchanges between China and Russia should not be interfered with or coerced by any third party. The so-called "overcapacity" in China has been proven to be a false proposition by a large amount of solid facts and data. It is hoped that relevant countries will maintain an open attitude and uphold fair competition. China's position on issues in the East China Sea, South China Sea, Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong has been consistent and clear.
China strongly opposes the G7 undermining China's sovereignty, and interfering in China's internal affairs, and urge G7 countries to abide by the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter as well as the basic norms of international relations, and manage their own affairs well.
Mao emphasized that at present, the world is undergoing rapid changes of a century, and international peace and development are facing unprecedented challenges. She hoped that G7 countries will stop indulging in geopolitical games, abandon narrow zero-sum thinking, and make practical contributions to the unity and cooperation of the international community.
