64-year-old woman charged with nine offenses concerning damage to National Day banners and posters
A 64-year-old woman is involved in a case concerning damage to National Day banners and posters last Thursday (October 3) in the Tsuen Wan.
She allegedly used scissors to damage a total of 48 banners and two posters that belong to the Home Affairs Department at the pedestrian bridge outside the Chelsea Court, the entrance to the market on Yeung Uk Road, outside the playground on Sha Tsui Road, outside Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School, outside the Tsuen Wan market, outside the Yan Chai Hospital Chow Cheuk Ming School of Nursing, outside the Panda Hotel, and outside the Tsuen Wan Catholic Primary School.
She also allegedly damaged five banners that belong to the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) and the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (HKFTU).
Besides, she was charged with possessing an instrument fit for illegal purposes, specifically a pair of scissors, and intending to use it for unlawful activities outside 72A, Kwan Mun Hau Street, Tsuen Wan, on October 4.
The case was heard yesterday at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court. The defendant did not appear in court as she had been hospitalized for treatment. The magistrate adjourned the case to October 10 or until the defendant is discharged from the hospital for further proceedings.
