The MTR announced at 8:56 am this morning (Oct. 14) that the Kwun Tong Line is not stopping at Lam Tin Station. It is understood that platform equipment at Lam Tin Station is emitting smoke.
As the incident occurred during the morning commute, large crowds of passengers gathered on the platform at MTR Tiu Keng Leng Station, causing overcrowding.
The MTR said there is currently no train service at Lam Tin Station, the station is temporarily closed, and free shuttle buses are being arranged between Kwun Tong and Yau Tong stations.
In response to the disrupted Kwun Tong Line service, KMB is strengthening services on the following routes:
600 [Anderson ⇌ Central (Rumsey Street)]
601 [Po Tat ⇌ Admiralty Station (East)]
619 [Shun Lee ⇌ Central (Macau Ferry)]
690 [Hong Shing Garden ⇌ Central (Exchange Square)]
KMB will also adjust bus frequencies on routes passing through Lei Yue Mun Road as needed.
