MTR Corporation announced on Tuesday (Sept. 15) that it will offer passengers half-price fares on Oct. 24 (Saturday) as part of its "Thank You Day" under the service performance rebate arrangement of the fare adjustment mechanism.
Passengers travelling on the MTR, Light Rail and MTR Bus services operating in the northwest New Territories will enjoy a 50% fare discount when using Octopus or JoyYou Cards. The discount will also apply to journeys on the heavy rail network paid for by QR code.
The half-price offer will cover cross-boundary journeys on the East Rail Line to and from Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations. It can also be used in conjunction with interchange discounts, fare saver concessions, 25% off connecting journeys for Monthly Pass holders, and the Government Public Transport Fare Concession Scheme for the Elderly and Eligible Persons with Disabilities.
However, the half-price offer will not apply to first class travel on the East Rail Line, the Airport Express, MTR feeder bus services, journeys paid for with physical or electronic single-journey tickets, contactless credit or debit cards, or high speed rail (Hong Kong section) services.
