According to South Korea's 'The JoongAng' on Aug. 27, a Chinese lecturer identified as Jung has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a Chinese female student and damaging her remains. After conducting a pre-arrest interrogation, the South Korean court issued a detention warrant, citing that Jung posed a "risk of flight."

South Korean police reported on Aug. 27 that during the investigation, Jung admitted to discarding the victim's remains in Gyeonggi Province and other areas. Police also stated that they are considering conducting a "psychopathic personality diagnostic test" on Jung. The pre-arrest interrogation took place on the morning of Aug. 27 at the Daegu District Court.

According to police, Jung admitted during questioning that he killed the victim, identified as A, in the early hours of Aug. 20. CCTV footage from outside Jung's residence confirmed that A and Jung entered his home around 2 am that day, and there was no evidence of her being forcibly dragged inside. This was the last time A appeared on CCTV, and she also last contacted her family in China around the same time. Police said the exact time of A's death still requires further confirmation through autopsy.

Regarding the motive, Jung claimed he and the victim were in a romantic relationship, and that he killed her in a "moment of impulse" during an argument. However, police believe that the suspect is likely to make statements favorable to himself after the victim's death. Police are currently conducting supplementary investigations, including extracting mobile phone data, to verify the true nature of their relationship and establish the exact motive.

Police also discovered that Jung, in an attempt to mislead the investigation, dressed in women's clothing after killing A and traveled to Daegu with A's mobile phone. He turned off the phone at Dongdaegu Station, changed back into men's clothing in a nearby restroom, and then returned home. The following day, he personally reported A missing to the police, falsely claiming to be her boyfriend and stating that "she went to Daegu and lost contact." In addition, police found multiple items of women's clothing during a search of Jung's residence and are currently investigating their origin. Jung had no prior criminal record, according to reports.

The victim, A, was a graduate student at a university in Gyeongsan, South Korea, who had returned to Korea to collect her graduation certificate. Jung had previously worked as a lecturer at the same university and was acquainted with A. A lost contact with her family after visiting Daegu on the evening of Aug. 20, and her body was found inside Jung's residence on the afternoon of Aug. 25. Police arrested Jung at around 7:29 pm that same day in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan.
