The Hong Kong Observatory issued a special weather alert today (Aug. 25), stating that a rainstorm area is currently affecting Hong Kong, with heavy rain and localised squally thunderstorms expected early on. Members of the public are advised to remain vigilant.
The Observatory said that Tropical Cyclone "Narra" will pass near the western coast of the Leizhou Peninsula today and tomorrow (Aug. 25–26). Under the influence of an active southerly airstream, the coast of Guangdong will experience occasional showers and squally thunderstorms over the next one to two days. Today's weather in Hong Kong will be generally cloudy with a few showers, heavy at times early on, and localised squally thunderstorms. There will be sunny intervals and hot conditions in the afternoon. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds are expected, with occasional fresh gusts.
