Tropical cyclone "Dolphin" is moving across eastern China and moving inland. The Observatory expects the outer subsiding air from "Dolphin" to continue bringing extremely hot weather to Hong Kong today and tomorrow (Aug 10 and 11). The Very Hot Weather Warning is in effect. At noon today, temperatures in some parts of Hong Kong rose to 35°C or above, with Sheung Shui in the northern New Territories recording over 38°C.

The Observatory said the weather in Guangdong is generally fine and extremely hot. A southwesterly airstream is expected to affect the coast of Guangdong over the next one to two days, with high temperatures persisting and a few showers. An upper-air disturbance will bring unsettled weather to southern China from Friday (Aug 14) through the weekend, with increasing showers and a slight relief from the heat. A broad trough of low pressure will gradually affect the northern part of the South China Sea to the east of Taiwan in the early part of next week. Meanwhile, tropical cyclone "Dolphin" will move across eastern China today and tomorrow, further moving inland and gradually dissipating.
