A traffic accident occurred on Fanling Highway. At around 7:07 am today (July 22), a tour bus and a 24-tonne truck were travelling along Fanling Highway towards Tai Po. When they reached near Tsung Pak Long in Sheung Shui, the two vehicles collided. The tour bus came to a stop after hitting a row of water-filled barriers on the roadside, while the truck overturned. The driver later managed to crawl out of the vehicle on his own before emergency personnel arrived at the scene.
No one was injured in the incident. The cause of the accident is under investigation. The crash caused traffic disruption in the surrounding area. By nearly 9:00 am, the tailback had extended to near Fairview Park on San Tin Highway.
The Transport Department said that due to the accident, some lanes on Fanling Highway towards Tai Po near Tsung Pak Long remain closed. Drivers can only use the remaining open lanes. The department urged the public to note that bus services along Fanling Highway towards Tai Po have been affected, and advised commuters to consider using MTR services or other public transport options. Traffic congestion is ongoing at the scene.
