In recent years, Patrick Tse had kept a low profile, and his health had been a subject of public concern. There had been multiple rumours about his health deteriorating, including false reports of a stroke and paralysis. However, these rumours were put to rest when Tse was spotted at a coffee shop on Victoria Peak in April this year. On that day, he appeared thinner than before and seemed to have lost several teeth. He needed a wheelchair and a walking stick to move around, but he still carried himself with star quality, maintaining his signature suave image.

Patrick Tse was born in 1936 and moved to Hong Kong with his family from the mainland as a child. He dedicated his entire life to the film and television industry. In 1953, he applied for the actor training class at Ling Guang Film Company but was not accepted. However, he caught the attention of Poon Bing-Kuen, who brought him into his Dihua Film Enterprises. Tse landed the lead role in his very first film, "Taps off, Downstairs!" In 1955, when Kong Ngee Co. was established, Tse was signed to the studio, launching a brilliant acting career and becoming a screen idol in the 1950s and 1960s.

Over the course of his career, Tse starred in over a hundred films. In 2022, at the age of 85, he won the Best Actor award at the 40th Hong Kong Film Awards for his role in"Time".
