The PLA naval flotilla, comprising the missile destroyer Nanning and the missile frigate Hengyang, arrived in Hong Kong days ago and is now docked at Ngong Shuen Chau Barracks. During its stay, the flotilla has been opened for public visits and has hosted a variety of cultural exchange activities. Today (July 4) marks the first day of public access, drawing large crowds of Hong Kong citizens. In addition to traditional military equipment displays and artistic performances, the soldier's physical fitness show became one of the most eye-catching highlights. After taking photos with the servicemen, one excited visitor said she could truly feel the strength of Chinese soldiers, describing the sensation as "having a mountain behind me!"
Several PLA Hong Kong Garrison soldiers, bare-chested with bronzed muscles, took to the stage to perform high-difficulty fitness moves such as weighted carries and pull-ups, drawing continuous cheers from the audience. After the performance, Liu, who came from Beijing, was given the opportunity to go on stage and take photos with them. She excitedly described the feeling as "very reassuring" and "like having a mountain behind me": "This is the power of masculinity and the marks of military training. You can feel the heat radiating all around, like an energy ball!"
In addition, the first day's cultural performances also included the "Warship Shines on Hong Kong – Garrison Military Band Concert," where the PLA Hong Kong Garrison Band performed pieces such as "Steel Torrent March." The concert concluded with "Ode to the Motherland," which prompted a full-house sing-along.
