According to Japanese media reports, Apple plans to release at least five new iPhone models between the second half of this year and the first half of next year, and has notified suppliers to prepare for the production of 10 million foldable iPhones this year – up from the earlier estimate of 7 to 8 million units.
The first foldable screen model is rumored to be named the iPhone Ultra, with a expected September launch. Market forecasts put the average selling price at as high as US$2,500 (approximately HK$19,000). Against the backdrop of ongoing global shortages of handset components and memory chips, as well as surging costs, Apple's launch of multiple new models is seen as a move to leverage its powerful supply chain control to seize market share.
