Apple on June 25, local time, raised prices for selected MacBook and iPad products across multiple global markets, citing a sharp increase in the cost of memory and storage chips. The latest price adjustment does not affect iPhones.

According to US media reports, Apple said in a statement that it had never experienced such a significant rise in the cost of a single component over such a short period of time.

The company said it had previously absorbed the additional costs to avoid passing them on to consumers, but had now been forced to increase prices for a range of products.

The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence data centers in recent years has fueled demand for high-bandwidth memory and other advanced chips, putting pressure on the supply of memory and storage components used in consumer electronics.

Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook previously said the company expects memory costs to rise significantly in the third quarter of fiscal 2026, adding that the impact of higher memory costs on Apple's business is expected to increase further.

Apple's Hong Kong online store shows that prices have been raised across its Mac and iPad lineup, including the iMac, Mac Studio, Mac mini, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, MacBook Neo, iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad.

Among the products affected, the Mac mini saw the largest increase. Its price rose by HK$1,900, from HK$4,599 to HK$6,499, representing an increase of 41.3%. Meanwhile, the 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 with 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage increased by HK$2,500, from HK$13,499 to HK$15,999.
