Legend has it that Hong Kong got its name from the incense trade centuries ago. It means "Fragrant Harbor." This is an international hub connecting East and West, and a city full of bustle and life. Through the ages, it has shone brightly as the "Pearl of the Orient."
Yet, some in the West have painted this city in a distorted light. They claim that, Hong Kong after returning to the motherland, "has lost its freedoms," "has no democracy," and "is no longer prosperous."
