An 80-year-old woman died and her 71-year-old husband was found unconscious after an incident at a public housing flat in Kwai Chung, Hong Kong, today (June 19), police said.
At about 1 p.m., police received a report from a woman at Fung King House, Lai King Estate in Kwai Chung. The caller said her 80-year-old mother was lying unconscious on a bed with her face covered by bedding, while her 71-year-old father was found hanging and unconscious.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and rushed both individuals to hospital for treatment.
The 80-year-old woman was later pronounced dead.
Police cordoned off the scene and have launched an investigation into the case. The incident has been provisionally classified as an attempted suicide.
