Today (June 1) at 2:50 pm, a bus was travelling along Shek Yam Road in Kwai Chung. When it reached the area opposite the North Kwai Chung Public Library, the bus driver reportedly failed to brake in time and the bus collided with a middle‑aged man riding a bicycle. After being hit, the cyclist was dragged under the bus. Passers‑by who witnessed the incident quickly called the police for help.
Rescue personnel arrived at the scene upon receiving the report and quickly extricated the injured man. He had sustained a severe head injury and was unconscious. He was rushed by ambulance to Yan Chai Hospital for emergency treatment. Police cordoned off the scene to investigate the cause of the accident. According to some sources, the victim was riding his bicycle to the above location when he allegedly lost control and veered into the bus, causing the collision.
