FIFA President Gianni Infantino has reaffirmed that Iran's men's national football team will travel to the US to compete in the FIFA World Cup as originally planned.
Speaking at a FIFA congress where tournament arrangements, regulatory changes and preparations were discussed, Infantino reiterated that Iran will participate in the World Cup and play its scheduled matches on US soil.
According to the official draw, Iran national football team has been placed in Group G alongside Belgium, New Zealand and Egypt. All three of Iran's group-stage matches are set to take place in the US.
Iran had previously proposed relocating its group-stage matches to Mexico, but the request was rejected by FIFA.
