Li Shing-lam, former president of the Christian Ministry Institute, has passed away on April 25, the institute announced.
In a statement, the institute said during his tenure as president, Li worked to advance theological education and pastoral training, making significant contributions.
"His legacy will remain in the hearts of colleagues, faculty and students," it said, calling on the Christian community to keep his wife and family in their prayers and asking for comfort and peace.
Li was also known to the public as the father of MIRROR dancer Mo Li (Li Kai-yin), who was critically injured in a giant screen collapse during a MIRROR concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum in July 2022.
Since the accident, the father had been issuing regular prayer letters updating the public on his son's long and difficult rehabilitation journey.
In March this year, Derek Li delayed issuing his regular prayer letter for the first time and revealed he might be suffering from a chronic cardiovascular condition.
It is understood that he was admitted to the medical ward of Prince of Wales Hospital on April 14 after visiting the accident and emergency department, where he was diagnosed with inflammation of the spleen.
