According to a post on the WeChat official account of the Tsinghua University Center for Film and Television Communication, the center issued an obituary on April 20 announcing that Ye Jun, director of Masters in the Forbidden City, passed away on April 18, 2026, at the age of 43.
"Masters in the Forbidden City" is a documentary series that aired in 2016. It focuses on the daily lives of restoration experts at the Forbidden City and documents the restoration processes of cultural relics such as paintings, calligraphy, bronze artifacts, and clocks. Through intimate cinematography, the series highlights dedication and craftsmanship while preserving China's cultural heritage.
