According to China News Service, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement on March 25 stating that Iranian air defense forces shot down a US F-18 fighter jet in the airspace near Chabahar in southeastern Iran that afternoon. The fighter jet subsequently crashed into the Indian Ocean.
The statement emphasized that the fighter jet was hit by a domestically produced Iranian air defense system. Iran claimed this marked the fourth successful interception of US and Israeli warplanes using domestically manufactured weapons in recent times.
