Financial Secretary Paul Chan presented the 2026-27 Budget today (Feb. 25). This year's relief measures are more generous compared to last year, including the waiver of rates for residential and non-residential properties for the first two quarters of the 2025/26 fiscal year, capped at HK$500 per household, extending one more quarter than last year. There will also be a full waiver of salary tax and personal income tax for the 2025/26 fiscal year, with a cap of HK$3,000. Additionally, social welfare payments such as CSSA payments, Old Age Allowance, Old Age Living Allowance, or Disability Allowance will increase from last year's "half payment" to an extra full month's amount.
Furthermore, the basic allowance and single parent allowance will rise from HK$132,000 to HK$145,000, while the child allowance and additional child allowance will increase from HK$130,000 to HK$140,000.
