Trump has repeatedly claimed he wants to "buy" Greenland, sparking widespread protests in Denmark and among Greenlanders. According to the Associated Press, a satirical red cap mocking MAGA (Make America Great Again) has become hugely popular in Denmark and Greenland, with the hat sarcastically reading "Make America Go Away."
The report states that 76-year-old Copenhagen resident Lars Hermansen said, "I want to express support for Greenland and also show that I don't like the U.S. President." The hat's designer, Copenhagen vintage clothing store owner Jesper Rabe Tonnesen, said, "What can I do? Can I use humor to convey a positive message and unite Danes in expressing our support for the people of Greenland?"
Following Trump's arrogant remarks, sales of the hats have skyrocketed, selling out in just one weekend. Tonnesen said he has now ordered "thousands more." Additionally, another version of the design reads "Nu det NUUK!" This is a play on words using the Danish phrase "Nu det nok" (Enough, that's enough now), replacing "enough (nok)" with the Greenlandic capital, Nuuk.
