Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who were captured in a large-scale US military strike on Venezuela early Saturday morning (Jan. 3), will be sent to the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York, according to US media reports.
The military aircraft carrying the couple landed at the Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, New York State around 5 p.m. (2200 GMT) on Saturday afternoon, according to multiple reports and video footage.
US President Trump stated that this operation demonstrated America's formidable military power and competence, calling it an unprecedented assault since World War II. He emphasized that in this operation, there were no American military personnel casualties, nor any equipment losses, proving that the US military is the most powerful and awe-inspiring on Earth.
