According to CCTV News, on January 3 local time, reporters learned from an informed source familiar with the operations of the CIA that a secret action team had been deployed by the CIA in Venezuela since August 2025. This team has been collecting information about Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's "daily routines" and movements.

Additionally, multiple individuals who attended briefings on the U.S. operations disclosed that a CIA source within the Venezuelan government was continuously reporting Maduro's movements to the U.S. just days before and during the operation in which he was captured by U.S. special operations forces.

These sources stated that it was the CIA that provided critical intelligence leading to Maduro's capture. The agency relied not only on informants from within Venezuela but also utilized a surveillance system composed of multiple stealth drones, conducting almost continuous aerial monitoring within Venezuela to track Maduro's specific location and movements.

Reports indicate that Trump authorized the CIA to take more aggressive actions in the fall of 2025 and approved the planning and preparation for a series of operations against Venezuela in November.

One individual familiar with the Maduro capture operation indicated that this mission was a result of deep cooperation between the CIA and the U.S. military, following "months of meticulous planning."
