According to Xinhua News Agency, on Jan. 3, Venezuelan Vice President and Minister of Petroleum Delcy Rodriguez stated on national television that US military aggression has resulted in the deaths of several military personnel in Venezuela and has also caused civilian casualties in multiple areas, including Caracas, Aragua State, Miranda State, and La Guaira State.
At least 40 people, including civilians and soldiers, were killed in a large-scale US military strike on Venezuela early Saturday morning, US media reported, citing a senior Venezuelan official.
On the same day, Venezuela's top court orders VP Delcy Rodriguez to be acting president, in order to ensure the continuity of national administration and comprehensive defense of the country.
Following the US military strikes against Venezuela, the situation in the country has drawn global attention. Journalists from the news agency have contacted Venezuelan citizens and the local Chinese community, who expressed that they feel shocked and frightened by the attacks and are concerned that, amidst the instability, there may be a shortage of food.
