Today (Nov. 30), many citizens spontaneously gathered at the Sha Tin Fire Station to pay tribute to firefighter Ho Wai-ho, who lost his life while combating the fire at Wang Fuk Court, Tai Po.

Ho had been stationed at the Fire Station during his service. After 10:00 a.m., a memorial platform was set up outside the fire station, featuring a commemorative plaque inscribed with the words: "Firefighter Ho Wai-ho – lost his life in the No. 5 alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court, Tai Po, on November 26, 2025. Thank you for saving lives. Your shift is over now. We salute you from the bottom of our hearts."

A small wreath was placed in front of the plaque, while the platform behind it was layered with flowers, interspersed with handwritten thank-you cards and paper cranes from the public. (DotDotNews)

Among the cards were tributes from colleagues—"Brother Ho, rest in peace!"—as well as illustrations of firefighters drawn by children, accompanied by lemon tea and a note that read, "Lemon tea for the firefighters of Sha Tin Fire Station."

A steady stream of mourners visited throughout the day, with over a hundred people arriving by noon. At busier times, citizens formed an orderly queue, taking turns to step forward, offer flowers, and bow in respect. Some were seen wiping away tears, yet the crowd remained largely silent, united in grief as they honored the young hero. A firefighter, reporting for duty, also approached the memorial to lay a bouquet of white flowers in memory of his fallen colleague.
