A devastating Level 5 fire broke out yesterday (Nov. 26) at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, resulting in 55 confirmed fatalities and over 200 people reported missing. According to the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Central Committee, to implement the important directives of President Xi Jinping, the Director of Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of CPC Central Committee and Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of State Council Xia Baolong, promptly arranged for a designated work team to travel to Hong Kong to assist in disaster relief efforts.
The team, led by the Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the HKMAO of the State Council, Nong Rong, departed in the early hours of Nov. 27 and arrived in Hong Kong that morning to begin their work.
Additionally, to further carry out President Xi's important instructions and under the directives of Xia Baolong, the Executive Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office (HKMAO) of the State Council, Xu Qifang, goes to Hong Kong in the afternoon of Nov. 27 to assist with disaster relief efforts.
