The Bronze Lions of the Gate of Supreme Harmony are hailed as China's foremost divine beasts. These bronze lions were cast during the Qianlong reign of the Qing dynasty. Standing 4.4 meters tall, they exude a majestic and awe-inspiring presence, embodying the unrivaled dignity of imperial power. The male lion's right forepaw rests on an embroidered ball, symbolizing dominion over the realm. The female lion's left forepaw gently touches a cub, signifying descendants' prosperity and flourishing. Crafted using the lost-wax casting technique, the pair showcases exquisite craftsmanship, with even the finest decorative details visible. Their Sumeru pedestals are adorned with vivid carvings of coiling dragons and pure, elegant lotus blossoms. For nearly three centuries, these lions have stood sentinel before the Hall of Supreme Harmony, silently witnessing the ebb and flow of history.
