According to multiple US media reports, the US Department of the Treasury is allegedly considering minting a US$1 coin featuring the portrait of US President Donald Trump on both sides, as part of the commemoration of the US's 250th anniversary next year.
As reported by CNBC, the initial drafts depict one side of the coin with Trump's profile, accompanied by the words "Liberty" and "In God We Trust", as well as the years 1776 and 2026.

The reverse side reportedly shows Trump clenching his fist and gazing into the distance—an image reminiscent of his gesture following an attempted assassination during a 2024 campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The coin also features the phrase "Fight, Fight, Fight", which mirrors Trump's rallying cry to supporters after the incident.
Additionally, US Treasury official Brandon Beach responded to the news on social media, stating, "No fake news here. These first drafts honoring America's 250th Birthday." He revealed that more details would be shared "once the obstructionist shutdown of the US government is over." Beach even pinned the post to his social media profile.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent later reshared Beach's post.
However, Forbes has noted, citing federal laws, that only the portraits of deceased individuals can appear on US currency. CNN also pointed out that due to these legal conflicts, it remains unclear whether the commemorative coin will actually be minted. A spokesperson for the Treasury Department stated that the final design for the coin has not yet been determined.
