On Sept. 24, the White House shared photos on its social media platform showcasing the "Presidential Walk of Fame" along the colonnade of the West Wing. The display features portraits of 45 past US presidents, but Joe Biden's portrait was notably missing. Instead, his spot was filled by an image of an auto-pen—a device used for automated signatures.
Martin, a special assistant to the president and communications advisor, also posted a video of the exhibit. The footage displayed portraits of former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, but Biden's place in the lineup was replaced by the photo of the auto-pen.
This curious detail has sparked public discussion, as US President Donald Trump previously ridiculed Biden over the same issue. Back on March 16, Trump posted an image on his social media platform that juxtaposed his first-term official portrait, Biden's auto-pen, and his second-term official portrait. Trump's caption suggested that Biden relied heavily on the auto-pen rather than signing documents in person.
Trump's jab aligns with his past accusations, claiming that Biden's administration used the auto-pen for signing official documents after his 2020 election victory, implying that Biden himself was not directly involved in the process.
