The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) has announced the indefinite suspension of its late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live following controversial comments made by host Jimmy Kimmel regarding the Kirk shooting case. The decision was reported by AFP and CNBC on Sept. 17. US President Donald Trump applauded the cancellation, calling it "good news for America."
During the opening monologue of the Monday, Sept. 15 episode, Kimmel made remarks linking Tyler Robinson, the suspect accused of fatally shooting Kirk, to Trump's "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement. Kimmel said, "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

Kimmel also criticized Trump's response to Kirk's death, saying it is "not how an adult grieves the murder of somebody he called a friend."
He further attacked FBI Director Kash Patel, accusing him of handling the investigation like an uneducated kid rambling through an oral report.
Following the suspension, Trump took to his social media platform to celebrate the move, stating, "The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done." He also called this cancellation "Great News for America."
Jimmy Kimmel Live is a late-night talk show that premiered on ABC on Jan. 26, 2003.
