According to the National Meteorological Center, Typhoon Ragasa is expected to make landfall along the coast from Yangjiang to Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province on the evening to night of Sept. 24. At 12 p.m. on Sept. 24, the Shadi Island Station in Chuandao Town, Taishan City, Jiangmen (elevation: 260m) recorded a maximum gust of 67 m/s (Category 17 or above), marking the highest recorded wind speed in Jiangmen's history (previously 54.6 m/s during Typhoon Mangkhut).
At 11:55 a.m., the Shanchuan Chuandao National Meteorological Station in Taishan City, Jiangmen (elevation: 21.9m) recorded a maximum gust of 64.3 m/s (Category 17 or above), which is the highest recorded wind speed at a national station in history (previously 51.6 m/s during Typhoon Koppu).
