The opening ceremony for THE MONSTERS X Hong Kong International Airport was held this morning (Sept. 22), featuring the Labubu installation in the departure hall of Hong Kong International Airport. The 7-meter-tall Labubu, dressed in a white shirt with "HKG" emblazoned on it, stands on a globe marked with various global destinations, holding a paper airplane, symbolizing the start of Labubu's global exhibition journey from Hong Kong International Airport.
The Airport Authority's Executive Director, Commercial Chan Ching-sze, stated that the authority supports the development of the arts, particularly the local creative industry, and is pleased to collaborate with Labubu's creator, local illustrator Kasing Lung. She thanked Lung for designing a special 18cm figurine for Hong Kong International Airport and expressed hope that his work would promote Hong Kong to the world, just like the special edition figurine.

Famous singer Hins Cheung revealed that he has been a fan of Labubu for a long time and is one of the early supporters. He dressed today in clothes printed with Labubu designs. He described Labubu's toothy grin as not only cute but also a bit mischievous, reminding everyone to maintain a sense of childlike innocence in life.

Cheung further commented that Hong Kong is Labubu's home, and its exhibition at Hong Kong International Airport would bring a sense of belonging and familiarity to both residents and travelers. He noted that in recent years, he has observed an increasing number of artists from various fields in Hong Kong and believes that exhibitions of pop culture are no longer confined to galleries but can be experienced in everyday life, which he finds very exciting.

Labubu is a character created by Hong Kong illustrator Kasing Lung and belongs to "The Monsters" series, gaining popularity across Asia for its unique appearance and mischievous personality.
