According to CCTV News, former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, who attended the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in China, spoke to CGTN reporter immediately upon his return to Tokyo on Sept. 4. In an exclusive interview at the airport, Hatoyama stated that he visited China with a heart full of reflection and apology.

In Japan, some individuals have labeled the commemorative events in China as "anti-Japanese." Similarly, recent films such as "Dead To Rights" and "Dongji Rescue" have been branded by certain groups in Japan as "anti-Japanese movies." These reactions suggest that contemporary Japanese society lacks the courage to confront its historical past.

Hatoyama's visit to China has also drawn criticism within Japan. However, he emphasized that Japan must face the history of the past and learn from it. He firmly believes that Japan can only regain the trust of Asian neighbors and the global community by courageously acknowledging the immense suffering it caused to its neighboring countries, admitting its mistakes, and demonstrating genuine sincerity.
