On the morning of Sept. 3, a grand ceremony was held at Beijing's Tian'anmen Square to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Iraqi journalist Fang Haoming shared that he was deeply shaken after watching the parade, and his emotions have yet to settle.
"I still can't calm down, especially at the end when the pigeons were released and the balloons were set off—I couldn't stop crying, I just couldn't hold it in. Although I'm not Chinese, I experienced war twice when I was a child. I sincerely hope that peace can be achieved in the Middle East as well, and I hope that people in the Middle East can enjoy the same kind of life as the Chinese people. Congratulations to all of you, truly, congratulations," he said.
