The Hong Kong Observatory issued a black rainstorm warning signal at 7:50 am today (Aug. 14), marking the fifth such warning issued this year. At 9:17 a.m., the Observatory issued a special notice for landslides, indicating particularly high rainfall in the Southern District of Hong Kong Island, which may trigger landslides. Citizens are advised to be aware of the landslide risk and to stay away from slopes. If anyone notices a landslide occurring nearby, they should leave the area immediately and report it to the police when it's safe to do so.
One resident captured footage on a bus showing water splashing outside, likening it to playing on a waterslide at a theme park. An optimistic passenger joked, "I thought I was on a bus, but it feels like a waterslide! Luckily, this road usually doesn't have many pedestrians when it rains heavily."
