The Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) re-selection deadline was last Saturday (July 19), and universities have begun to announce their re-selection data. Based on Band A applications, the most competitive program is the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Health and Social Services Management at Lingnan University, which received 407 applications but only has 8 places available, resulting in approximately 50 applicants competing for each spot.
This year, the competition for the Bachelor of Education program remains fierce as well. The Bachelor of Sports Science and Coaching and the Bachelor of Physical Education programs at the Education University attracted 889 applicants for 25 places, equating to about 36 applicants per spot.
At the University of Hong Kong, the most competitive program is also the Bachelor of Education, specifically the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education and Special Education), which received 131 applications for 16 places, with 8 students competing for each spot. At Chinese University, the most competitive program is the Bachelor of Health and Sports Science, with 363 applicants vying for 16 places, averaging about 22 applicants per spot. The program with the highest competition at the University of Science and Technology is the Bachelor of Science (Quantitative Social Data Analysis), which received 139 applications for 26 places, averaging about 5 applicants per spot.
As for the most popular programs, the Bachelor of Nursing with Honours in General Health Care at the Metropolitan University received 2,503 applications, while the Bachelor of Nursing with Honours in Mental Health Care had 1,245 applications, and the Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology had 1,215 applications. Additionally, the Bachelor of Science program at the Chinese University received 1,424 Band A applications, and the Bachelor of Arts program at the University of Hong Kong received 1,047 applications.
