A No. 10 typhoon signal is currently in effect in Hong Kong. The South Korean boy group RIIZE is holding concerts at the AsiaWorld-Expo on July 19 and July 20. The original entry time for today's audience was set for 6 pm. However, the Hong Kong Observatory issued a No. 10 typhoon signal this morning, and the organizer, iME Hong Kong, not only failed to postpone or cancel the event but also announced this afternoon that the entry time would be moved up to 5 pm. This announcement sparked discontent among many fans, who criticized the organizer for disregarding the safety of both fans and staff. The organizer later updated that the performance would be delayed until 9 pm, and if the No. 8 or No. 10 typhoon signal remains in effect at 6:30 pm, the concert will ultimately be canceled.
Earlier, the organizer stated around noon that "due to the current weather conditions, and with the safety of all audience members and staff as the top priority," the sound check would be postponed until after the performance, and the entry time would be moved up by one hour to 5 pm. Additionally, for safety reasons, they "strongly requested" fans not to arrive too early and to come around the entry time. The organizer also emphasized that the sound check might be canceled due to weather conditions, and the performance time could be adjusted accordingly.
Many fans took to social media to express their dissatisfaction, criticizing the organizer for neglecting fan safety: "How dare they say they prioritize audience safety," "They just want to make money without caring about anything else, it's ridiculous," and "Capitalists recklessly exploit fans' hard work." Some netizens also suggested that if an accident occurs, the organizer should bear full responsibility.
About three hours after the previous announcement, the organizer posted again, stating that the performance time has been adjusted to 9 pm, the sound check has been canceled, and the latest entry time will be announced later. Furthermore, if the No. 8 or No. 10 typhoon signal is still in effect at 6:30 pm, the concert will ultimately be canceled. Refund policies will be announced separately.
