The Hong Kong Observatory issued a Red Rainstorm Warning Signal at 9:36 a.m. today (July 10), as the remnants of tropical cyclone Danas continue to bring unstable weather to the region.
Earlier in the morning, at 8:35 a.m., a Yellow Rainstorm Warning was issued, cautioning that heavy rainfall might impact HK.
According to the Observatory, widespread areas of HK have already recorded, or are expected to record, hourly rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters. The downpour is likely to persist throughout the day.
The Observatory has warned of the risk of flash floods and noted that rivers are already overflowing or at risk of overflowing. Residents are advised to stay away from riverbanks. Those living near rivers should closely monitor weather conditions and consider evacuation if flooding is likely to affect their homes.
